'He wants to feel more important!'... Dzeko's Bosnian
team-mate Pjanic says City striker would be welcome at Roma.
Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko would be welcome at Roma, according to his Bosnia team-mate Miralem Pjanic.
Dzeko has consistently been linked
with a move away from the Etihad Stadium since his £28m move from Wolfsburg in
January 2011, with several Bundesliga and Serie A clubs keen on securing his
services.
The 27-year-old, who is under
contract until 2015, has started just five of City’s 15 Premier League matches
this term, and only one of those starts has come since the end of September.
Bosnia are keen for him to feature
regularly ahead of their maiden World Cup finals appearance next summer and
Roma playmaker Pjanic says the forward would be a welcome addition at the
Stadio Olimpico.
'I'm in contact with him and I know
he aspires to play more and feel more important (than now),' said Pjanic.
'We hope he plays more. Here in
Italy he would be very good. Of course, he belongs to Manchester City but I do
not know how long for.'
Dzeko played nearly 90 minutes for
City in the 3-2 win against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, and was replaced late in
the game by Jack Rodwell.
He has scored six goals in all
competitions this term, including three in the league in just six appearances.
Pellegrini claimed earlier this
month that he had no plans to let Dzeko leave the Etihad.
'I put my trust in him before the
season and I have just as much trust in him now,' he said.
'It is very important for this club
to have a good squad because we have a lot of games to play from now until
April and, if we want to win trophies, we need important players.
